Today, I had an interesting conversation. It started to really irritate me. I felt myself getting impatient with the questions I was being asked. The person asking, of course, was expressing his curiosity and doing his best to understand what I was doing and how I got here... Where you are today is the result of actions and decisions you made since you were born. Some you may be happy about, others perhaps not. The unhappy incidents and decisions, you hopefully learn not to do THAT again, while letting go and forgiving the people responsible. Without forgiveness, it eats away at you, filling you up with bitterness, bile and broken hearts. I have made over 80 online video courses. I have 9 or 10 courses recorded and awaiting editing. And probably 10 more in various stages to production... So he asked how do you find these experts? Do you have a landing page? Drive traffic with FB ads? No. Everyone I work with, either I really do know them, or a real friend knows them. There is no cold calling going on in my life. Not my style. Maybe it’s yours and that’s okay. There are many streams flowing into a river. I realized he was struggling in his life and was looking for a way to achieve his goals. My oldest son, John, started on the piano. He then played guitar and bass before settling on the saxophone. We never knew he’d end up professionally playing the sax. It was his unique journey. But he picked an instrument and mastered it, then through that experience opportunities came to play other instruments. But to get where he wanted, he had to give up playing the guitar seriously. And he had to be coachable. Listen to his tutors and do what they told him. No arguing that if he was a quarter beat off. I did not know four years ago that I would have 177000 students and 80 courses. It was all Earl Flormata’s fault. After we spent two hours with his crack marketing dept, he pulled ma aside and like God on Mt Sinai, shouted from above: “Thou shalt create a podcast video course!” And I did. I didn’t argue. And now I realize why I was so irritated with my friend. He is very intelligent and talented. He figured some things out and when I brought them up, he dismissed them as insignificant. You don’t get to make that decision. Well, of course, you can. But, to quote The Matrix, “You know where that road leads, Neo. You’ve been down it before...” And so, my friends, it is time to put aside your arrogance. When someone tells you your talent, it is supreme arrogance to belittle your talent. Your subconscious listens and gets angry... So stop being so arrogant. Say, “Thank you”, because you may just be at the most importance crossroad of your life. Arrogance, failure and struggle are down one road. Joy, success and ease lay down the road least traveled...
