The commercialization of the podcast world is on the rise, with the exponential growth in listenership that has attracted the attention of many brands in recent years. “Marvel has seen a real opportunity as this space has grown,” explains Amy Fitzgibbons, chief marketing officer for podcast network Midroll Media, which has released the comic book company’s first foray into audio scripted content through podcast. Wolverine: The Long Night, was released episodically earlier this month, and sees Marvel becoming the latest major company to court the burgeoning audience that is turning to podcasts, as are advertisers in growing numbers. https://ift.tt/2IXovto

Scott’s Soliloquy When you put out content, whether it is posts on FB, videos on YouTube, courses on Udemy, blockbuster movies at Cinemax, there will be a percentage of people who are upset. I recently received a 1 Star review on one of my courses. The screenshot is attached. Thang Wrote: "unprofessional instruction (they use unstable communication methods to establish the conversation and recorded, one of them even dropped their ear/headphone when talking) I am not sure that do you/your company even watch this tutor video before putting this on your website for people to purchase? This is useless information as this is not for free because they need to work as digital marketer when traveling. By the other hand, not 10% of people in the world are qualify for this "free travel" as they don't have blog/website and of course they are not popular as the instructor. I have ground to say that I have wasted my time for such a useless lesson." Now it would be easy to dismiss his comments But I felt this was a 'Call For Help'. I heard a lot of frustration and lack of confidence in his voice. Here is my Reply: "Thank you for taking the time, Thang, to share your thoughts and frustrations. You express a fear and challenge that not surprisingly, everyone has. Everyone who sets out to achieve a goal begins at zero. Once Ricky had zero followers. You sound like you have zero followers. You are correct when you say 10% of people qualify, but it’s not because they have huge followings, it’s because only 10% of the population is willing to put in the work, the time, the effort to build a following. Everyone goes through a period where they think it’s not working. They put in hours of effort and no one watches their video, or reads their blog. Those that persevere, will one day succeed. We produced the course when we were each on opposite sides of the world. That is a challenge. We have always been about doing and then improving. No one is ever perfect the first time. And perfection is the biggest excuse to do nothing. Blogging is the easiest thing in the world to set up. Your writing above shows fire, passion and talent. It would be sad if a bad attitude and closed mind deprived the world of your insights and writing. We didn’t start out traveling the world, let alone ‘free’. We started out learning and growing, taking steps towards our goals. Then ten years later we started achieving our travel goals. This isn’t a quick fix or a ‘go travel free tomorrow’ course. What we shared works, if you do. You did indeed waste your time, if you did nothing to model what we taught, if you did nothing but throw up your arms in despair, if you thought you didn’t have to work, to grow, to evolve into the person who can do this successfully. If you truly want to travel, and as I write this in Kenya, I strongly encourage you to, I suggest you get over ‘standards’ and rewatch the course, looking at steps you can implement to achieve your goal. "PS Ricky is now in Nicaragua staying free with his three children and wife. I will be in Norway, an incredibly expensive country, staying free in June. You can do it to." **** I don't have the luxury of hand holding. There is a good chance, Thang will never read my reply. IMHO, what is important is the journey, as you take your steps towards your goal. No one is ever really an overnight success. We rarely observe their journey. Our western culture prides itself on "You can do what you want" without adding... "If you work really hard and long at it". I have met many people in Africa. One question I ask a lot is: "If you made US$500 a month, would you be better off?" It is like you asked someone in New York, would your life be better if You had a million dollars... Their faces light up. A mere $500 a month would be huge in most countries here.. Then, I talk about the work... The light fades. Ricky works hard. I work hard. Ricky plays harder than me, because he has three darling young children. LOL! We set our minds on our goal of traveling the world. We found ways to do it without breaking the bank. We are not rich in a dollar sense, but we are rich in life. You can be, too.

Many people use Facebook to push their agenda, political, business, religious, you name it... There are three types of people in the world: 1) Those that agree it’s most of what you write 2) Those that will never agree with what you write 3) Those who might agree with what you write (on the fence) Your job is to push the people on the fence onto your side while not alienating those already on your side. Group Two is a waste of your time and energy. All you’ll get is ulcers trying to convert them. So if you insist, do it with love and a light heart. I see such miserable people because their heads are so bruised from smashing it against the wall. You put a Trump supporter in a room with a Clinton supporter. Do you really think anything will change their opinions? 🙊🙉🙈 It’s rare. But it does happen. My ex wife grew up in the Roman Catholic Church. I grew up in the United church. She wanted to get married in my church. A few years later, my son was born. About two years after (so seven years after we married), mother-in-law convinces ex that we aren’t really married since it wasn’t an RC wedding. And they want to redo the wedding. My response: you say we are not married. Therefore our son is a bastard. You want to admit that publicly. Never heard another word...

Scott' Soliloquy: I Had A Dream I woke up this morning feeling I needed more sleep. Fortunately, I can indulge those feelings and I lay back in bed. My Mind wandered a bit. I was thinking of today's To-Do list, the beach, Africa, the culture... Then I found myself in a big tent. I was getting ready to meet a friend for lunch. I walked out of the tent into the hot sun and headed that way to where we said we'd meet. In my way was a group of people, about two hundred. They were being herded up against a wall to my right. Everyone around me was afraid, not sure who these people were or why they were being put against the wall. Then it was obvious. They were about to be shot by the people who brought them. Everyone stood and watched anxiously as the preparations were made. My heart was heavy. I knew there was only one thing to do. I stepped forward. Took another step. Some people yelled at me. I ignored them. I stood in front of one of the men pointing a rifle... We started talking. If he was going to kill these people, I would be first. In the way of Dreams, I no longer recall our conversation. I only remember it was a long talk. Behind him, a fellow was telling him to shoot. The other five shooters were waiting to see what my shooter did. In the end, he did not shoot. Neither did the others. And I survived to share the story of my Dream ...

"Those who live in the shadow of death are often those who live most." ~ Stephen Hawkings (RIP) I call Bullsh*t. It is romantic. I'll give you that. When you are sitting in your nice warm bed. The candle lit on the nightstand. Your tummy content. Sounds good. You read it. You imagine a scene from James Bond or some exciting movie, where the hero is about to die. They survive. And you think how exhilarating... That's an adrenaline rush. That's not living. I was in a hospital bed for 5 weeks in the summer of 2014. I ate ice cubes most day. I had blood sample taken at 6 fukcin' AM every day (I like to wake up at 10am, thank you very much!) I lost 45 pounds. I was yellow. I was so close to death, they told my mom to start making funeral arrangements. There was no "Living most". There was take one breath, then take another, and don't you dare stop... There is nothing romantic about being in the shadow of Death, feeling her loving gaze as she prepares for that final embrace. Her hug comes for everyone. Everyday, an alarm bell goes off. Rarely do we wake up. Then one day our eyes open and the beliefs we held so close melt away and new visions appear. Or they don't. You can be like my drug addict buddy, Joe, who woke up just a little bit on a rainy February afternoon on Hasting Street in Vancouver walking in his socks, because he traded his new boots for the heroin in his brown paper bag. Twenty years later, in 2017, he walked across Canada raising $531,623 for homeless youth. That's 6,521 km (4,025 miles). One day, you will open your eyes and be asked the question: "Did you live a life worth living?" I hope your answer will be a resounding "YES!!" and "I was nowhere near the Shadow of Death..."
