My first job interview was with the top guy at a company where my dad was the controller. There was no way they weren’t giving me the part time bagging clerk job, so it was more he wanted to meet his accounting manager’s son. My dad coached me. He said, “Go in. Shake his hand firmly. Say Hello. Sit down when told to. Shut up. Listen. Smile. Answer questions confidently and with as short an answer as you can. Trust me, Mr. G. will do all the talking...” Turned out really well. It became my philosophy for meeting people. I used to worry about what I was going to say, now I worry about what they are going to say! ๐๐
